I'm Tony James, a senior, hands-on applied AI and full-stack engineer. I build production software for businesses at freelancer rates. AI-assisted delivery keeps overhead down; I own the code, testing and what ships. Based in Milton Keynes, UK. Charities can apply for at-cost work.

Production AI, high-volume APIs and the systems behind everyday services. These are contributions within client teams, separate from products built independently.
- CityFibre — AI agents, in production.: Built and launched 10+ production AI agents, including QA agents that cut QA cycle time by up to two days. Implemented Claude and Grok RAG workflows with vector databases, guardrails and API integrations.
- Zurich Insurance — Insurance benefits, connected.: Led the Vitality pass-through API for Prudential in Brazil and Argentina. Wrote approximately 90% of the API powering more than 50 million insurance policies, handling benefit activation and revocation from specification through tests, deployment and optimisation.
- BP Chargemaster — From legacy systems to live data.: Modernised legacy charge-point systems into Laravel services. Built an OCPI REST API providing real-time charge-point data to Mercedes and a Palantir pipeline processing more than one million records per export. Delivered OVO Energy offer management and Workplace Plus corporate free-charging functionality.
